The formation of Bay Area Action has received tremendous support from Bay Area groups and individuals. The support has enabled us to establish our office and begin the overwhelming tasks of gathering information, creating events, and publicizing our actions. But so much needs to be done, we must hope that contributions of resources and talent continue to reach us.
In the resources department, our wish list includes Macintosh computers, a laser printer, bicycles, and bookcases. Financial contributions are always needed and are now tax deductible. Interestingly, The Wall Street Journal reports that although the environment is one of the two or three issues of greatest concern to the public, charitable contributions towards the environment make up less than 1 percent of all donations in the United States. As for talent, the specialized BAA committees are looking for a few good people. Virtually every project needs help of some kind, be it research and writing skills or good old-fashioned enthusiasm. Attend our next general meeting (see Calendar) to learn more about the work behind the projects.
