Next time you’re talking to your eco-friends, you could be passing on an important environmental message as a member of the BAA Phone Tree.
What is the Phone Tree? The Phone Tree is a network of environmental activists who are willing to devote a small amount of time each month to pass on information of immediate concern. Each member is a crucial link in relaying news about important events, such as environmental gatherings, restoration projects, beach cleanups, fundraisers and so on.
To become part of the Phone Tree, make five copies of this page and give them to five people you know who will take positive action for the environment. Explain that when you are notified of an action, you will contact them and they in tum will contact five people they've chosen. In this way, the Phone Tree will continue to grow.
When you’ve found five people who are interested in the Phone Tree, fill out this form with their names, addresses and phone numbers, and return it to BAA. If you can’t find five people, turn in the list with the names you’ve got. Make sure you keep a copy of your contacts, and feel free to call us if you wish to add more names to your list.
Important: the Phone Tree works because people like you follow through. It is vitally important that you relay information quickly and accurately. The Earth, the forests, and each tree need you as never before.
Remember, this is an emergency action network. Most actions will be planned via the newsletter and action alerts. You will not be called every week or even every month, only when the immediacy of the event demands instant ACTION.
