The Recycling Project was an early project working to making recycling easier and more efficient throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, in a time when recycling was not widely in practice and infrastructure was rarely present. The project’s main goal was to be a clearinghouse for recycling information. Volunteers such as Bill Weber developed the Bay Area Recycling Guide (BARG), a database produced in cooperation with a host of regional environmental organizations, recycling companies, and government agencies. “The free Bay Area Reuse/Recycle Guide, produced in 1992 by Region 9 of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, got a ‘helping hand’ from BAA folks.” [Action vol 3 no 3]
