Bio

Yuliya was a stalwart Schools Group member and a SG Intern for two years. She often helped run Wednesday-night meetings in the Moffett office, and was a gregarious and welcoming personality and often a voice of reason during tough discussions. Yuliya helped organized many events, and was instrumental in the planning, publicizing, and execution of several Deep Green conferences.

You will rarely see a photo of her from back in the BAA days where she is not flipping off the photographer (usually Mark), but we don’t hold it against her. In fact, it’s part of her charm.

Post-BAA

Yuliya received her B.A. in Environmental Studies and Philosophy at UC Santa Cruz and her Masters in Environmental Science and Environmental Policy from Yale; she was a 2012–’13 Fulbright Public Policy Clinton Fellow, working for the Ministry of Energy in Guatemala. She has worked in energy policy for the California Public Utilities Commission and is currently the Head of Energy Division at BART.

She lives in Oakland, CA, with her husband and child.
